The Gregorian Society of Baltimore was founded to preserve and foster the Traditional Latin Mass and traditional sacraments and ceremonies of the Roman Rite within the Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore. The Society is loyal to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church and functions with the approval of the Baltimore Archdiocese. The Society seeks to protect the indisputable rights of its members and other Archdiocesan Catholics to attend the Traditional Latin Mass as proclaimed by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in the motu proprio. "Ecclesia Dei." also reserves the right to gain access to all of the traditional rites and ceremonies of the Catholic Church which its members deem necessary to the salvation of their immortal souls.
Presently, the Society's activities are centered around the Traditional Latin Mass offered each Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Holyday at historic St. Alphonsus Church in Baltimore City. The Society exists to serve all Catholics of the Archdiocese. As knowledge of the Mass' reintroduction into the life of the Church spreads and its popularity increases, the Society will work to expand the locations where the ancient sacrifice is offered. Because of the incredible growth of the Latin Mass movement in the Roman Catholic Church, the Society also strives to educate Catholics on relevant issues, such as the establishment of Church- approved religious orders dedicated to the Traditional Mass and sacraments.
Periodically, the Society hosts lectures and other events featuring leaders of the movement. The Society also supports, spiritually and financially, the various apostolates and ministries associated with the Traditional Mass offered at St. Alphonsus Church, including the Latin Choir, acolytes, various prayer groups, and advertising team.
The Traditional Latin Mass is offered every day at the National Shrine of Saint Alphonsus, which is located at the corner of Saratoga Street and Park Avenue in Baltimore. To obtain further information of Saint Alphonsus Church please visit: www.stalponsusbalt.org
